| YWCA Of Adelaide Strategic
Plan
Our Vision - what we picture in the future
A fully inclusive world where peace,
justice, freedom, human dignity, reconciliation and diversity are
promoted and sustained through women's leadership.
Our Purpose - what we do
The YWCA of Adelaide influences
community and government attitudes on issues facing young women,
empowers young women through leadership development and supports
young women in need.
Our Reason for Being
- what we stand for
The YWCA of Adelaide believes to
shape a healthy society we need to help young women reach their
potential.
Our Values - what
we believe in
- Our
work is underpinned by the principles of equity and justice
- We value diversity and work
towards inclusive communities
- We practice and promote the
importance and value of women's participation and leadership
- We actively encourage the valuable
contribution and effective voice of women in our communities
- We practice responsible governance
- We value and recognise the important
role of men and boys within our organisation, families and communities.
Our Directions-what we are trying to achieve
- Advocacy and Influence - providing
a voice for young women and the issues they face in order to affect
social and economic conditions. The YWCA of Adelaide will conduct
research and work with young women to influence the agenda on
issues relating to young women and improve conditions for women,
particularly young women, in South Australia.
- Empowering Young Women - providing young
women with the skills and knowledge they need to achieve their
dreams, whatever they may be. The YWCA of Adelaide will promote
and provide a range of opportunities for young women to develop
and exercise their leadership and life skills that is based on
their needs and preferences.
- Supporting Young Women in Need - working
with disadvantaged young women through services and programs that
nurture them and address barriers to participation in their own
lives and communities. The YWCA of Adelaide will provide services
and programs at times of need and at key transition points in
young women's lives.
Our Connections- we think globally but
act locally
For over 125 years the YWCA of
Adelaide has been part of worldwide membership movement and we value
our national and international connections. Locally we focus our
activities and influence on the wider Adelaide Metropolitan area
and other regions within South Australia.
