INDIGENOUS RELATIONS PROJECT OFFICER
Aboriginal Parental Engagement Program (APEP) – Supporting Parents and Careers of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children.
The position is offered on a part time (0.6) basis until 30th December 2012 or for the period of funding of the APEP.
YWCA Enterprise Agreement Level 4 ($51,586.75 – $55,468.88 FTE per annum) (depending on skills, qualifications and experience). Salary Sacrifice options are available.
Location: Hutt Street Adelaide & various locations including Northern Adelaide Suburbs

Job Description:
We are seeking applications from experienced Indigenous Relations Project Officers to assist with the implementation of the YWCA’s Aboriginal Parental Engagement Program (APEP) by:
- Promoting the program through appropriate networks.
- Engaging Aboriginal parents/carers in the program.
- Facilitate structured program sessions.
- Supporting participants.
- Supporting Aboriginal Parents and Carers in mentoring, leadership and volunteering opportunities.
To be successful you must be able to work as a team, can facilitate group training activities, have good organisational and administrative skills (MS Office suite) and able to relate to a wide range of people. Demonstrate current knowledge of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal people. Able to demonstrate effective and sensitive communication, negotiation and consultation skills delivering education and/or health services to Indigenous people. Relevant qualification and/or experience working in a similar role. Have a reliable car and driver’s licence.
This is a part time position 3 days per week.
