Power of Programs: Indigenous Programs

Aboriginal Young Women’s Leadership Project

The Aboriginal Young Women’s Leadership Project started in 2011 was an exciting new collaborative project between the YWCA of Adelaide, Women’s Health Statewide State Aboriginal Young Women’s Committee and Maxima Indigenous Employment Services for ATSI women between 15 -30.
The project provided opportunities for Aboriginal young women to develop their leadership skills through various opportunities including:

  1. Professional development workshops
  2. Networking Sessions
  3. Structured volunteering opportunities
  4. Employment opportunities

In May 2013 during Reconciliation Week the AYWLP will be hosting a 2 day regional workshop for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal young women in the Riverland at the Old Calperum station. If you are from the area and are interested in having the opportunity to discuss local issues with other like -minded young women about leadership opportunities and self –empowerment as well as have some fun; Contact Raquel at the YWCA (08 8203 9400) or Julie at Regional Development Australia on (08 8580 8500) for more details.
If you are passionate about advocating for young Aboriginal women around the state, developing leadership skills, and having a say about the programs that can be successful for young Aboriginal Women contact Raquel at the YWCA.
